A groso modo, la actividad en el fediverso y las tareas que procesa nuestra instancia en forma diaria, ha aumentado un 17% aprox por semana las últimas 2 semanas. Los picos de actividad usualmente se dan los días miércoles o jueves. El miércoles de esta semana nuestro servidor procesó unas 640 mil tareas cuando hace dos miércoles, el 1º de enero, procesó unas 470 mil. Por ahora viene aumentando en forma lineal, veremos si hay meseta en algún momento o sigue. Recordamos que en la gran migración de noviembre de 2022, llegamos a procesar sin ningún tipo de problema, más de 1 millón y medio de operaciones diarias en el nodo y había todo tipo de memes que comparto para el recuerdo. Es un orgullo anunciar que acabamos de poner en marcha TKM.EUS, una instancia de Mastodon especializada en información local en euskera, para proveer al fediverso de información local elaborada . Estamos migrando la actividad en RRSS de nuestros 78 medios asociados a esta instancia, en un esfuerzo por mejorar la 'dieta informativa' de nuestro público.

We're VERY PROUD to announce we just deployed TKM.EUS, a Mastodon instance specializing in basque hyperlocal media, to provide thorughly elaborated hyperlocal info to the fediverse. Just sitting here this morning scrolling through Mastodon and it occurred to be amazed and thankful for a piece of software that just does it's primary function without being bombarded by a bunch of nonsense or sucking up personal information and selling it off. It is really amazing how few things are left in our daily lives that are not crammed full of exploitive junk. Thank you Mastodon for simply existing.

Announcing FediMeteo – Weather in the Fediverse!

Weather has always influenced our lives: from agriculture to outdoor activities, to extreme events that, thanks to modern technology, can now be predicted with greater reliability. Personally, weather plays a significant role in my daily decisions, which is why I decided to create a service tailored for the Fediverse.

FediMeteo uses Open-Meteo data to publish updates every 6 hours, including current weather conditions, forecasts for the next 12 hours, and predictions for the upcoming days. Each country is served by its own dedicated instance (e.g., it.fedimeteo.com for Italy), managed through snac to ensure simplicity and efficiency in publishing.

You can follow FediMeteo directly in the Fediverse (on Mastodon and compatible platforms), via RSS, or by visiting the dedicated page for your city (e.g., fr.fedimeteo.com/paris).
