Accessible intro to geopolitics and int'l relations, but glib and already outdated

I didn't think 2015 was a long time ago until I read this book (in 2026). It makes natural gas fracking and the Islamic State sound as historically important as World War II or the Industrial Revolution
Geography is a good lens to view international relations. Without it, we tend to get stuck in our preferred political/cultural lenses, such as "imperialism explains everything" or "Muslims hate freedom".
So the book is a brisk and nicely readable intro to geopolitics, appropriate for a high school student or undergraduate ... IF they continue to read other books or articles with better and more up-to-date analysis.
