I've had personal difficulty connecting with graphic novels and manga as a genre. With an "unspoken crushed thespian dreams" subtext, Monologue got my attention and affection. The foreshadowing suggests it may get more difficult in future volumes, but Volume 1 was the smitten-artistic-schoolgirls story that I needed at this moment.
