Michele Rech (Italian: [miˈkɛːle ˈrɛk]; born 12 December 1983), better known under the penname Zerocalcare ([ˌdzɛrokalˈkaːre], literally meaning "zero limescale") is an Italian cartoonist. He has been a renown artist in the Italiank punk subculture since the early 2000's, eventually breaking into the mainstream with the graphic novel Dimentica il mio nome (2011). Since then, he has consistently published comedy-oriented strips and panels, autobiographical longforms concerning his family life and native neighbourhood in Rome, and graphical journalism addressing societal issues both in Italy and abroad – particularly his award-winning reportages from Kurdistan and the TV-aired animated shorts commenting on the Covid-19 lockdown. In the 2020's he has created two self-contained animated miniseries for Netflix, both taking place in the same continuity as his graphic novels.
