This paperback edition of Hands Off Wales addresses the campaign of militant activism which Wales witnessed between 1963 and 1969. It demonstrates that the unprecedented period of violence was fueled by both the contentious flooding of Cwm Tryweryn and, crucially, the failure of Plaid Cymru to prevent the valley's drowning through constitutional means.

1963: The dam construction site at Tryweryn, the north Wales valley set to be flooded to provide water for Liverpool, is targeted by bombers. 1969: Multiple bombs protest Charles Windsor's Investiture as Prince of Wales, some with tragic consequences. 1999: The National Assembly of Wales is officially opened by the Queen and Prince Charles.

The 1960s urged us to "Give peace a chance". The same decade also taught us, however, that significant political advances are often rooted in militancy - typically the only means of protest which cannot be ignored.
