The square persimmon, and other stories

There is a fey energy to Atoda's short stories as the characters within find themselves recalling fragments of the past and reevaluating the present. Some of these stories even come close to feeling like ghost stories, though more because of their ambiguity and clever execution rather than the over presence of the supernatural. The stories often invite the reader to reflect on death and the way things transform often without much notice. The brisk pacing tends to make the impressions all the more poignant.
